Missions-What We Believe
Missions at Grace Community Church starts with an understanding that all we do is for God's glory. We also understand that missions and evangelism are inseparable and belong in everything we say and do. Our purpose is to make God known both here and around the world.
We believe that the church at Antioch presents us with our model for how we function as a missional church.
Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.
(Acts 13:1-3, ESV, emphasis added)
The gospel is the only message.
The gospel is the only motivation.
The gospel is the only answer.
How do we accomplish this goal?
We disciple believers.
We spread the gospel in our hometown.
We involve ourselves in ministry around the state.
We invest in mission efforts around the world, both personally and collectively.
The Great Commission IS our Cause
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
(Matthew 28:18-20, ESV)
